What is this pain?

This is a bit weird so bare with me, am having horrific shooting pains in my groin area about 2/3 times a day since Saturday. No idea what it is but it bloody hurts it lasts for 5 or so seconds and then stops suddenly. This morning I could barely walk for the pain, but it did go.

I am a bit constipated at the mo, but nothing too bad.

Any ideas? Its a bit scary how painful it is, felt sick with it before but it comes on so suddenly and goes quickly as well (bit achey afterwards but nothing bad).

Get it checked out - if it is really painful and you feel sick with it i wouldn't ignore it. If you develop a high temp or vomiting or it gets worse go to A&E. Abdominal pain is always hard to diagnose because our intestinal nerve endings only recognise any sensation as pain - it is just the severity that varies. I hope it turns out to be something not serious. Hope you get it sorted out.

Anyone else? It hurts when I go to the loo and push (ie not when I am peeing normally)
Thanks for the reply 3littlefrogs

I would check it out, sounds like it could be a UTI which can be very unpleasant and can make you quite ill. go to the doctor

I had pains like the ones you describe once, I have had two difficult labours and am no wimp, but it was agony, in the end I was lying on the bathroom floor crying and dh called a doctor

It was severe constipation. Which surprised me hugely, because the pain was more at the front.

Get checked out as soon as you can, because if it is constipation it is easily sorted, but will get more painful if left. And whatever it is, you'll be better off knowing and having it treated!

Best case scenario - very large poo stuck. Worst case - diverticulum (small pouch of bowel) either getting pinched or twisted. Either way you need to make plans to get this checked out tomorrow morning if things don't get worse overnight, or be prepared to go to A&E if things do get worse. Think about how you would organise yourself to get there, and put a few things in a bag. I don't want to scare you - chances are things will settle down, but it is far better to be prepared for the worst case.

I think I am hugely consipated might buy some senna tomorrow.

Will see Dr on Wed if i am still having them, no time tomorrow unfortunately - i am in uni 9-4.30.

I suppose I worried because it was not constant soreness. Its the worst pain I remember feeling when it happens but 3 times in one day is not the end of the world is it! Am v.big wimp prob

Thanks for help! x

Senna probably won't do much if you are hugely constipated tbh. Try diabetic chocolate, worked wonders for me!

How are you this morning, smurfgirl?
Glycerine suppositories (you can buy over the counter)are the best thing for acute constipation - you need something that works at the "bottom end" IYSWIM. I am just worried that if it is not just constipation, you can do more damage with constipation remedies. If you have really severe pain you should get it checked out so you know what you are dealing with.

Um, if anyone is interested I feel a bit better today none of the painful episodes so hopefully am getting past it
