Can anyone tell me what happens when you go to the dr with suspected retained products of conception please?

DD is 7 weeks old, bleeding is still happening and although has gone lighter (only slightly) I'm passing bits (about fingernail sized) of grey, gristly tissue. The past 3 days I've had what feels like after pains from labour which had stopped and I've noticed a slight unpleasant smell Blush

I'm obviously going to see a gp tomorrow but was wondering if anyone had experience of what they'll do or advise so I can be prepared.

From the last time I dealt with this I think they usually put you on antibiotics as it sounds like you have some infection. Sometimes you need referring back to gynae but the guidance does change.

I'm 9 weeks postpartum and in the same boat. Was sent for a scan (nothing found) and that's it. She put me on cerazette to try and regulate my hormones.

Do you mind me asking if they sent you for a scan right away or if you had to wait for an appointment to come through? (I only ask because I have a child in hospital for the next 2 weeks so I'm running around a lot atm trying to manage everything!)
