How long did you have to wait between laparoscopy pre-op and actual op?

Hi,

I'm on an NHS waiting list for a laparosopy and I've got my pre-op assessment this Thursday (was originally meant to be two weeks ago but I was unable to make it) but I still have no date for the actual procedure so I called up my consultant's secretary today and she said the earliest available date is the 15th of July!! Sad There is a 99% chance I'm working abroad this summer so I probably won't even be around then. Her secretary said she'd let me know if there were any cancellations but in the meantime I'm wondering if there's any point even going to my pre-op assessment now if the earliest they can operate on me is almost 2 months away. Any advice?

Not laparoscopy but hysterectomy. I had date for pre op and op date for the next day. I had to change the op date and was given appointment for 1 month later. I asked if I needed to change the pre op date and they said no because it was good for 3 months, which surprised me, especially as they swabbed me for mrsa, which I assumed I could pick up at any time. Also, last year I had a pre op for day surgery way before they gave me a date for the surgery, which I also had to delay for a month. Hope this helps.
