Hip pain and the doctor...

Hi all,

so last Wednesday I went to boxercise for the first (and only!) and got a little too into it, since then the muscles up my thighs have been sore but also my hips feel almost trapped or like they're not sitting right, its rather painful to keep up with the toddler even after anti inflammatories, just wondering what a general concensus on going to the doctor is?

Fwiw yes im overweight I'm working on that and have steadily been losing weight for the past 18 months and am not new to exercise but normally just the gym not high intensity classes.

thanks for reading, sorry for going on Smile

I'd probably wait a bit longer before going to the Dr. Muscle strain can take a while to die down.

I thought I had a groin strain for about 2 months. Saw physio and got referred to Dr. It was severe osteo arthritis in one hip. I ended up having a replacement at 41.

That's a bit extreme though. Hopefully you'll be fine in a few days.

I think the doctor will tell you to give it time, or at best give you some exercises to do. If you want treatment you need to see a sports physio, which you'll have to do privately in most NHS trusts. Around £20 here.

cool I figured I don't need to go I'm just not the best judge of it usually and leave it till it gets worse and needs more treatment Smile

Might be worth trying a tens machine on the muscles. Lloyds sell a fairly cheap disposable one. I've found them helpful for very tense muscles.
