IUD came out with a tampon I didn't know was in there, still crampy 12 hours later

Hi all,

I've been having a heavier than normal period, though nothing very unusual about this as they do vary. But last night I realised there was a tampon up there that I'd forgotten about - I don't think for longer than this period, so probably only a couple of days. The string had completely disappeared and as I was hoiking the damn thing out I could feel my coil strings, I avoided them, though there was a pain at one point. Anyway, I got the tampon out and my coil came out with it. It seemed to be by the side of the tampon, as if it had already dislodged.

Anyway, not terribly nice but not too troubling. My question now is should I talk to my doc? I'm still uncomfortable and bleeding a bit (period should be over by now). No chance I'm pregnant and I don't want another one fitted. I'm on holiday, in the UK, at the moment so I can't just pitch up at docs until after the weekend.

Any advice would be great.

I think if you're still uncomfortable or bleeding when you get home it would be worth getting checked out in case you have done any damage when if came out.
