I'm disinfecting like mad, hand washing and continually cleaning the loo, but is there any way to kill the bug in your gut before it takes hold?
I know that this sounds ott but I can't explain how much I dread getting sick Sad

hi hope you've been ok since you posted? I have emetophobia too and have read that raspberry is good for killing bacteria in your stomach. also try to eat a little even if you're not hungry because having an empty stomach can make things feel worse.

Handwashing stops it before it gets into your tummy. You can prevent noro spread through disinfecting etc. I used to be more anxious but we've had several bugs that only one person has had. A few more tips:

  • Only eat hot food.
  • bag up anything with sick on and boil wash
  • wash hands
  • use bleach not antibacterial spray
  • bleach things like light switches, rails on stairs, remote control, mobile phones.
  • wear gloves
  • if you have more than one toilet reserve one for use by people who aren't sick.

It isnt impossible to contain it like some claim. I am always Hmm at the people who let them go through the whole family because 'there's nothing you can do' and scrub the dcs after they've been round to their house for a few weeks after You can't catch it from contact before someone is sick for example.

We're not the only ones op Wink I've had several conversations with different mums about sick bug 'routines'.....

Thank you, no one else has got it yet so fingers crossed we stay healthy.Smile
We were meant to going to a christening tomorrow but I've let the mum know that me and the dc won't be going. Dh is godfather so I'm really hoping he doesn't get it.

I'm an emetophobe too

I've heard Coke kills the virus dead in the stomach (which I believe since it seems to dissolve teeth, limescale, and roof of your mouth Smile)

My experience has been the same as tobysmum's. Good hygiene can stop the spread. Hope everyone else remains clear. Emetophobia is the pits.

Yes, I can usually stop it spreading; gloves whilst cleaning up, then no hands or fingers anywhere near your mouth or face for at least three days, it's quite hard to do, but if you are an emetophobe like me you can manage it. It has never passed from one child to the other in my house (although they did both catch it at a party once at the same time). and i caught it a couple of times before I devised my anti noro system!
