Gastritis and rapid weight loss.Worried now.

Back to the GP last week after initial visit about weight loss.A stone in the last year ,but more than half of that in the last two months. And I'm not big to start with.A petite frame and size 10 last decade or so.I was delighted to be a bit trimmer, but now feel very worried - which I know won't help as anxiety can cause weight loss and I can be a bit of a stress head when there's lots going on.And the last year has seen two bereavements and a house move.So that's what I put the initial drop in weight down to.
However it's getting me down, and comments from people that aren't close family or friends about how skinny I'm looking aren't helpful.I doubt they would greet someone with my goodness you're looking fat today !
Then 10 days ago I had a huge flare up if what I was told was Gastritis and put on Omeprazole. It is slowly settling ,but it's still sore when I eat and my throat is dry and voice croaky.Especially in the mornings.I'm trying to build myself up,but can only manage small portions so nibbling nuts etc in between.
Has anyone else lost a lot of weight like this ? How long did an acute flare up take to settle.Think this has been coming on for a while due to the throat clearing and mucous thing.I'm being referred to a general physician as first as all my bloods are normal so thyroid and diabetes not the cause of the weight loss.
Thanks for any replies.

Have you had the test for helicobacter pylori? Usually a poo sample now. That can cause awful gastritis. Treatment is omeprazole and antibiotics. If that's normal a gastroenterology referral would be my next port of call. General physician good too (they are a dying breed)

No GP didn't suggest that. But since I went I have remembered my brother had that and was only found after months of gastric trouble. If I don't hear about my referral in a couple of days I think I will go back and ask if I could be tested for it.Could that account for weight loss too ?

Thanks for replies. My appetite was normal a few weeks ago - very good as I love my food and cooking. Now I feel hungry, like my stomachs chewing itself, but when it comes to meals I can eat a bit and swallowing so fine but I'm struggling to eat half my normal portion. So I'm snacking on nuts ,bannas etc in between to stop further weight loss.
