For ages I have been getting brown discharge before my period but the number of days it starts seems to be getting longer (about 4-5 days). Does anyone else get this - should I see the doctor? I'm in my early forties.thanks.

I think it's very normal. Changes to your cycle could be a sign of perimenopause, but a few days of brown spotting isn't at all unusual in and of itself. I wouldn't be at all worried.

I wouldn't worry but it's probably worth seeing your gp. I have had something similar and currently waiting to see a gynaecologist.

i had this for a time and saw a gynae and all was fine , i don't get it anymore but I get a day of very dark sticky blood (hardly any) which is handy as it warns me my period is coming the next day! I am also in early 40s so assume it's perimenopause stuff ? I also used to get massive period pains , like really really bad, and recently those have completely stopped, for the first time ever since beginning periods i have very heavy, but very pain free periods. weird.
