I don't suppose there is any chance it didn't come from someone's bottom is there?

About 2-3 inches long, fairly thin and it was WRIGGLING. Bleurgh. Stool samples all round I think .

auntyquated, I had a look at your link to the old thread, I got as far as the bbc link, it was gross and gave up there, are the other links a lot worse than that link?

Blandmum · 05/11/2006 15:55

It could be a part of a tape worm. Segments are shed and 'wriggle out' of the nus, so they can lay eggs and restart the life cycle. The segments are quite 'plump though

cool!

SpaceCadet · 05/11/2006 16:04

it sounds like a roundworm.

sleepysooz · 05/11/2006 17:07

If you don't see any other worms wriggling in your toilet I shouldn't worry!

But what a fantastic thread to read on a Sunday teatime! brill

Good luck!

Hey - just to hijack this thread, I had a live cat in my toilet this afternoon who was also, not surprisingly, wriggling about a bit.

Mind you, she had been put there by my 3 year old toddler, poor thing !

I'd rather a cat than a worm any day.

poor kitty cm!

Depending on whether your toilet is fed by the mains or the water tank......

You may have had something fall into your water tank and die......Therefore, when flushing the toilet, associated detritus and flowed down up on refill....

Might be worth inspecting the water tank before inspecting bottoms.....

Either its not from a bottom, or its a roundworm. Roundworms do look like skinny earthworms, apparently

Easy to pick up in a stool sample, I think?

Poor you, nothing freaks me out more than worms - had them in India once when I lived there for six months in my misspent youth thankfully, I never looked or saw any, but they showed up very easily in a sample. Also easy to get rid of. Good luck!
