Constipated baby

I've just stopped giving 12 week old dd lactase gradually over a period of 10 days. She is now constipated, and when she does poo, it is a funny colour. GP said to give her water to drink between feeds, but this doesn't seem to be helping. Any advice?

Is your DD formula or bottle fed? If bottle fed try to add an extra half to full ounze of water to her bottles for a day if she won't take it seperately. I don't know if she is too young for some very diluted prune juice. Also try rubbing her tummy in a clockwise motion and bicycling her legs. Also some vaseline on her bottom can help as it kind of melts and can help the poo come out (sorry sounds icky but it seems to help my DS).

My HV told me to put 1 tablespoon of orange juice in her milk. Worked for us.

i am not a doctor, however my best mate had this with her DD, she was advised for a temporary measure to push DDs knees up into her chest, laid on a nappy, to aid in the 'going'. if this fails to get any 'reaction' then to gently place a cotton bud around the anal hole, creating stimulation, and aiding in the 'making' of 'success' this did actually help her a great deal for the temporary solution.. other than that, the more water the better. hope this helps

if she is formula fed, what about changing to one with pre/probiotics ? I'd try & get as much extra fluid as possible. Also try 1tsp brown sugar in cooled boiled water (similar to the lactuose). Also have a word with your HV.

sugar in the bottle & orange juice given a big no - no by my HV- shows they are all different! massage, warm bath, lots of extra fluids..........it will come out eventually!

lots of warm baths I was told but get the fishing net on standby. Becareful with prune juice my baby was really really sick all over kitchen floor when I gave her dilute prune juice.
