Could I have fractured my wrist?

I fell headlong on Sunday and landed on my hands, palms down. Both my wrists hurt for a while but then the pain disappeared after half an hour or so.

Today (Thursday) the outside of my wrist (looking at it palm down) really started to hurt when I was using a mouse in work and since then I've realised it hurts when I twist it and when I'm driving and when I put weight on it. It doesn't hurt in the way my toe did when I fractured that the other day though.

It's probably just bruising or something isn't it?

Only way to know for sure is to have an X-ray I'm afraid.

I guess so. But it hasn't hurt at all for the last 3 days. I'd have noticed surely.

I think you would have noticed a lot earlier (am veteran of many breaks). Ligament pain is what usually comes up later, so that fits very well. Do anti-inflammatories help?

I'm a Fellow veteran but all mine have been ankle or foot related and I certainly knew immediately with most of them. I've rubbed some ibuprofen gel on it.

Thanks!

Do you know that shaky shocked feeling you get when you break a bone? Did you feel that at all?

A proper break & you'd have had a lot of quick swelling making the joint itself hard to move.

I did, but oddly in the other wrist. No swelling or anything. I'm feeling more convinced it's ligaments now.

Its worth getting it checked as the small bones in your wrist can break and then not heal properly if left alone.
