Pulled muscle in back - hurts when coughing, sneezing, laughing and breathing deeply. Is this normal?

The GP has said it's a strain but said to come back if I start getting breathless or it gets worse.

Anyone any experience of this?

Where in your back is the pain? Do you know how you hurt it? Is heat or ice or anti inflamitories helping at all?

It's on the right hand side, quite high up.

I haven't tried - just because I'm not in agony with it.

Just very aware when I cough, breathe, sneeze etc!

Kind of radiating around too.

I've had it about three weeks. Was off with the kids over half term so a lot of soft play and lugging them about (three and one). Not sure specifically when.

Sounds like a pulled muscle (or a cracked rib?) which will take around 6 weeks to settle ... just try not to sneeze or laugh (yes I know easier said than done). There is the chance of a chest infection when you don't breathe deeply enough is what the GP is thinking but should be ok (long-time back problems here and have had broken ribs and sprained chest wall).

If it gets really painful an icepack should help and painkillers.

THANK YOU!
