Pneumonia - antibiotics not working after 4 days?

Hi,

Sat here sweating buckets, banging headache, aching all over and with a racing heartrate (90s instead of normal 50s).

Prescribed amoxicillin last tuesday and have been taking it, following the instructions, since last tuesday night. Yesterday began to feel significantly worse.

I could go to the out of hours gp service in the morning, or wait until Monday to see my own gp.

What would you do? (I don't want to make a fuss but feel quite ill)

I would call 111 and get an appointment for today. No medical qualifications but my GP usually says come back if you are getting worse. Hope you have someone with you. I wouldn't wait until Monday but wouldn't want to be waiting in A&E if you are very poorly, so think OOH GP is best. In my area appointments there are scheduled through 111.

Please get seen this morning. My df had this recently and got very ill quickly- it took about 10 days for antibiotics to properly kick in.

I would go back to gp or out of hours doc asap.

So I went to gp today and the antibiotics are working. I have just caught a nasty virus on top. Feeling relieved but a bit sorry for myself. Thanks for all your advice.

oh poor you. ..can you get high doses of vit c into you? sodium absorbate...and some high strength garlic allicin?
