DS is 26 weeks and was waking in the night so we worked to increase my milk supply. He is sleeping in the night again but now have too much milk and v sore boobs! Thought it was just a blocked duct but it is in both breasts and he is managing to clear them but the refill is constant, very fast and very painful.

Have just been to GP who said that the left one is a little red and sore looking so has given me antibiotics to take in 24hrs in case I start to feel worse.

Do anyone have any thoughts or suggestions for how to avoid the antibiotics and how to reduce me milk supply to a sensible level.... I tried a hot bath and a little squeezing which was fine but I was completely full again ten mins later!

Think it is good you have the antibiotics to hand just in case.

Don't really have any advice but when i had mastitis, the gp could not get to me until that evening. By then, i was halloucinating. The morning started off with a 'really' bad headache and progressed from there.

I did carry on bf while taking the antibiotics. Was completely out of it thou'.

Hope the milk supply sorts itself out. Be ready with the antibiotics just in case.

Take carexx

Mastitis is horrible, really feel for you.
I ended up taking the antibiotics as a last resort and was glad I did - raging temp and very ill.
Express, express, express and freeze. you will thank yourself for it in the long term as expressed milk is oh so handy
