Periods and fertility after Mirena removal, please share your experience

Hello everyone, took Mirena coil out last December, waiting 6 weeks for first AF, now back on 28 days last two cycles, using OPK and I am ovulating, last 3 periods, where 3 days, 2 days and this one has lasted only a day.

I thought your hormones went back to normal straight away. Please share your wisdom with me. I have two DC's so I have been pregnant before.

When I had mine out I was pregnant with DC3 within 3 months, periods went back to normal straightaway, but I had only had it in for 18 months if this makes any difference. I opted to have another one fitted after the birth of DC3 and my experience this time round has been a lot different from the previous time. I never had periods previously, but now have one every 21 days and lasts about 7, so I think everyone is different! Not sure if that helps, but good luck Grin

Thank you KCAMum, that was nice and quick for you, we will see what others experienced, I have never had a one day period before. It's odd

It took me 2 years to conceive after my Mirena removal whereas I only had to look at dh and get pregnant. My periods were short and light unlike previously as well. I dont believe fertility is back to normal with everyone.

I had my second Mirena taken out on 21st January, DD2 was born 2nd December same year, and she was 2 weeks late. That is exceptionally quick, but I know lots of people who have had them, average aeems to be 3-6months wait.

There is no doubt that fertility does to return as quickly as they make us believe, I had mine for nearly 4 years. Ovulating but minimal AF 3 months later.

I had mine taken out after 3 years or so to ttc. I think it was recommended to wait at least 2 periods before trying but from what I can remember, I only had one before conceiving the first week of actively 'trying'. I was an advanced 41 at the time too.

Thank you Mejon, that is so encouraging. I best order more OPK,s
