Went on someone elses thread through googling recurrent cystitis after sex.
Much good advice there, just thought I'd start my own to avoid confusion.
Have quite a bit of blood when peeing. Does that also occur if the cystitis is not bacterial?
I have a dr appt later luckily, just trying to work out how to avoid cystitis without going celibate!

Yes, I get blood when I have and episode of IC. It is a little darker and occurs towards the end of the episode though. Essentially, the bladder is damaged and cracked, so it can bleed.

Have you actually been tested for infections? Many doctors will prescribe just on the basis of symptoms. Try asking for a proper test (not just dipstick) every time. If it shows an infection then it is a uti, but if the results are clear, ask for a referral to a urologist and ask them to look into IC.

In the meantime, if it is IC, changes to your diet make a huge difference, so try looking into that. There is a great support forum for IC, although it is based in the US, so some if the advice isn't relevant to us. They also have a great thread with hints and tips for sex.

Thank you, will check it out.
It is frustrating because I had not had cystitis for probably ten years. Then Imet my new partner and it started after just two months. It took me a few times to work out that it was sex related as we did not do anything outof the ordinary. But we dont see eachother alone that often so it is high intensity when we do.
This is the worst its ever been though. And with or without antibiotics it always goes away after roughly Four hours. Except this time.
