sore breast no lumps but my left nipple is brown in colours and crusty looking

Does that sound odd? I'm 41. Has anyone else noticed anything like this?

I meant at the very tip of the nipple/breast.

I'd always thought it is lumps on the actual breast that needs checking.This is the nippy and its not a lump iyswim?
