Feeling rough after period

Got my periods back after DD2's birth 4 months ago now and I'n finding it all a bit odd after the period is over and as I start to ovulate. I feel very tired and achey and generally run down and miserable. Sometimes my guts play up too IYKWIM. It lasts for about a week or 10 days and gets gradually better until after my next period. It's like reverse PMT.

Dr suggested he thought it might possibly be endometriosis (which seems a tad extreme). Could it just be post AF anaemia, though my periods are not that heavy? He said to see what happens before they investigate further. That was a month ago and I'm back to feeling rough again. There is definitely something cyclical going on.

Am BF'ing a 10month old - 3 feeds a day so was also wondering if there was something hormonal going on.

Does anyone else get this? Any advice?

At least your doc has mentioned the possibility of there being endometriosis - it does not sound extreme to me at all unfortunately. Endo is the second most common gynae problem seen in women after fibroids. Any symptom that is cycical in nature and that gets worse during menstruation could be due to endometriosis. It can also play havoc with your bowels, endo can get into the intestines.

Have you had a blood test done to see if you are aneamic?.

Something is going on and it is in your interests that the cause is determined.

Will your GP refer you to a gynae?. A second opinion could be beneficial here.

But I thought endo had other symptoms e.g.painful sex etc which I just don't have. Also I thought it plays havoc with fertility, but DH and I just have to look at each other and I get pregnant!

Infact there are four classic symptoms of endo:-
painful periods
deep pain during sex
subfertility
pelvic pain

Not all women with endo will get all of these symptoms; the above tend to be the most common ones.

I hope that a cause is found for your problems asap so it can be treated.
