hospital app. been canceled, should I be worried

So about 4 months ago I stopped having my period, went to gp who did the usual blood test which came back normal. I was then referred to the hospital for an ultrasound which came back normal except there was a shadow near my uterus next to my cervix. I was told they don't know what it is, apparently they haven't seen anything like it so I was referred to a pediatrician (I'm 17) but I got a letter to say it's been canceled and I'm being referred to a different consultant. Should I be worried, and has anyone had a shadow on there pelvic US?

Yes - have they given the name or the specialty of the new consultant? If only the name, you can google him/her to find out what specialty he/she is in, although I would assume gynae. It just means they think the new consultant is more clinically appropriate for you than a paediatrician, which is almost certainly the case.

No, no name just that I've been referred to another consultant. Although a gynaecologist referral does make sense.

Highly unusual to be referred to a paediatrician aged 17. In Edinburgh you are no longer a child at 13 which is a shame and far too young. A gynaecologist is what you need.

Got a letter today from the hospital, I've now been referred to a gynecologist. Anyone got any ideas about what I might be asked or what they might do? I'm trying to not stress out but Dr Google keeps coming up with cancer.

I would try not to worry. The chances of you having cancer at your age are incredibly low.

I had a gynae appointment not long ago, the only thing I was asked really was the date of my last period (I have an app for that!). They will probably take some notes and review what they've already got written down about you and then may decide to do further tests. If they want some blood taken, that may be done on the same day but if it's anything else, like a repeat ultrasound, it will be scheduled for another day.

You can take someone with you if you're worried, I go to nearly all my husband's hospital appointments with him. It might help to have someone to write things down for you?
