I have been to see my surgeon and decided not to go ahead with yet another attempt to reconstruct my left breast. I had a mastectomy 10 years ago and have had to have 6 further ops to try to make it look right, repair, etc and finally had it removed last July after a very serious rupture that caused it to move up inside my chest wall and has left me with silicon granules potentially all round my body. The implants I previously had all contracted badly, so were never comfortable [sore and itchy permanently] and I had a rupture in the rhs too 4 years ago [I'd had a boob job when I had the original mastectomy, having previously been virtually flat-chested [how ironic!]].
I was very uncertain for the last week or two about whether or not to have another try and the surgeon said "if you're in doubt at all, then do nothing". I do still have the option of coming back in few months times if I am clear that I do want to do it.
I just can't be bothered - it would have meant another two weeks off work, 4 weeks further recovery before lifting things; starting running from scratch all over again; relying on DH and kids to do chores [which they were pretty hopeless at last year]. However I am not looking forward to the summer as a few of my dresses are low cut enough that my sexy [not] full-cup support bras will show above the neckline.
Hope I've made the right decision? I've just ordered a swimsuit and bikini that I can put a prosthesis in so hope they fit and look OK!
