tooth extracted 3 days ago, gum swollen and sore

I naively thought it might hurt for 24 hours, but still painful. It was a, top side molar, and the socket/gum area feels swollen an sore, plus painful up under cheekbone and, side of nose. Had been on antibiotics so can't imagine it's infected. Anyone else had pain several days after tooth out?

Might it be something called dry socket? Have seen it discussed on here but would need to google for info. You now have me worried, as I am having a top molar out on Thursday!

I'm.sure you'll be fine, the actual extraction wasn't too awful..just hurts now! I'll.look up dry socket.

I had all of mine out together. I found the first few days bearable and then the pain was horrendous. For about a week I think. I didn't get dry socket it just hurts. Sorry. If you are worried go and see the dentist to check. Ask the pharmacist for the strongest pain meds possible.

You had an operation. The recovery is painful. It's only three days ago, just give it some time.

I doubt it's dry socket from what you've said.

To be fair you have a wound in your head.. its going to be sore for a bit. Remember the dentist shoving your gum down the tooth before pulling it out?

Interesting point about it being an.operation, I think I really underestimated it! Keep telling myself for goodness sake it's only a, tooth out, but it really hurts. Especially up side of nose and in the socket . I'll keep swilling with salty water and take loads of painkillers.

Try rinsing with warm salt water. Took me 3 weeks to get over a tooth extraction as a fragment of bone was causing the issue. Once. It came out it healed in 24 hours.
