Oh shit. I looked at the eclipse, I couldn't help myself. Will I go blind?

Hmm hypochondriac much?

amy83firsttimer · 20/03/2015 09:29

I looked too! I'm such an idiot. I'm sure we'll be fine though.

Jaccuse · 20/03/2015 09:30

You could see it through the clouds.

And yes am a hypochondriac...Blush

Mrsmorton · 20/03/2015 09:30

Can you see Mumsnet?

If the answer is no, then you're probably blind.

Jaccuse · 20/03/2015 09:32

I read the damage doesn't show for 48 hrs.

Thanks amy83

I think you'll be fine.

(Although Mrsmorton did make me laugh a little. Sorry)

BabyOnBoob · 20/03/2015 09:41

I daren't open the curtains as I know I'll look at it. Like when you tell a child not to touch something hot as it will hurt them.

Jaccuse · 20/03/2015 09:43

I've now read sth else which says it takes a couple of hours for any damage to show.

I should prob just stop googling. Google is not the hypochondriac's friend.

Yes Mrs M made me snort. I'm aware I'm possibly being quite ridiculous.

That was exactly it BabyOnBoob

Yes. In fact you are probably already blind.

liveloveluggage · 20/03/2015 09:46

Yes you will go blind, there will be an epidemic of blind people!

BakewellSlice · 20/03/2015 09:47

There will be an epidemic of blind people ... and then the plants will go on the rampage! Wink

Jaccuse · 20/03/2015 09:47

Ah.

Viviennemary · 20/03/2015 09:52

I looked too. Now my eyes don't feel the same. Help!

MagentaMouflon · 20/03/2015 09:53

I have been viewing it in every way possible (bits of paper, bucket of water, trying to get a good look thorugh exactly the right amount of passing cloud cover) and have possibly damaged my eyes a leetle bit. I can still see a few eclipse-shaped blobs.

Worth it!

MagentaMouflon · 20/03/2015 09:54

(I'm getting old anyway! Who need eyesight!)

hellhasnofurylikeahungrywoman · 20/03/2015 09:54

All these blind people and now rampaging plants!! Are you sure it was the apocalypse you saw?

howoapproachthis · 20/03/2015 09:56

i looked at it and now my eyes really hurt.

MsBug · 20/03/2015 09:57

I looked at the last one a bit, through cloud (couldn't get hold of any glasses). I didn't go blind.

MsBug · 20/03/2015 09:58

We had thick cloud this time and I couldn't see anything at all, it just looked like it was going to rain Sad

Jaccuse · 20/03/2015 09:58

That must be it. I've accidentally fallen into a John Wydham novel - all makes sense now :)

This seems to suggest that you will be OK though it isn't a great idea to do this as you can cause damage if you look for too long
