Hot toddy recipies - what's your favourite?!

I have a raging head cold. Whilst the aches and pains of having a cold are gone, perhaps a soothing hot toddy might help.

Anyone got some tasty tipple ideas?

I have been taking echinacea, and drinking green tea, but would love to hear of your ideas for something a little stronger at the end of the day... And not just because its St Patrick's day Grin
Thanks in advance!

I have never been on the General Health board before but am bored so having a browse - and think I (or rather DH) can help…

His failsafe recipe for killing a cold, and ensuring a good night's sleep, is the usual combination of whisky, lemon, honey and hot water, but with the addition of a cinnamon stick, a few cloves, a few whole peppercorns (pref lightly crushed) and a couple of slices of ginger. (Or make it with a lemon + ginger teabag if you happen to have any, instead of fresh ginger.)

I lived in Russia for 4 years and can also testify to the power of a shot (or two) of vodka with a hefty grinding of black pepper as a cold/flu remedy Grin

Artful, thanks.
They vodka/ black pepper combo sounds very interesting.
Have lemon and ginger tea bags and whisky and honey, so give that a go.

Cheers!

My delicious unconventional version is a hefty measure of port, slug of brown sugar, slices of lemons and orange and topped up with hot water. Works every time ! Pregnant at the moment with a horrible cold and missing it

Smoked, thanks also. Haven't come across that one!
Right, time to raid the drinks cupboard Grin
