Day 5 of flu and still feeling like death

Proper flu that is, but shouldn't I be starting to feel a bit better by now? Coughing really hurting throat, eyes still burning, can't get out of bed and all achey again. And have given myself an ulcer from taking ibuprofen but it was the only thing that helps.

No way I could get to GP but is it worth ringing, or is it just flu?

You have my sympathy, we were ill for around 5 weeks before and after Christmas, we all started with a really heavy cold, then 2 of us got proper flu that made us feel rough for at least a week, then I got pneumonia, so it was a grim few weeks. Do you have a high temperature? Mine was so high I was bouncing off the bed shivering, I doubt your GP will do anything even if you do call, but watch out for chest pains which was the start of my pneumonia. Maybe take Paracetomel along with the Nurofen, drink as much as you can and stay in bed. I felt better with a little air circulating the room so kept a window open just an inch, the coughing also made us feel sick. Rest was the only answer and even now in March I still feel post viral (tired, sluggish, just not quite right)

Oh chick you have sympathy. Day 1 was last Wednesday for me. Went to doc on Friday as I really had a baby elephant sitting on my chest. She examined me and gave me 500mg of penicillin. Plus the cold shivers/sweating, headache. Today im feeling half human and the drugs are working. Ive lost 8lbs as my throat was closed up but jelly and ice lollies are a godsend!!!

Throat is a lot better but my appetite is lost somewhere. Red eyes, flaky nose, dry skin. I look a right pic of health. Off work for the week.

DD1 is off today. Sore throat. Cough. Snot. Poor thing.

Id call the GP.
