Hi I have to have a general tomorrow for an endescope. I can't come to terms with having it done awake so doctor has kindly allowed me to have a general. The thing is I have developed a cough over the weekend. The cough is mostly here at night and slightly at day.

Would they do a general when a patient has respiratory problems? Any advice warmly welcome thankyou

Depends how bad it is and whether you have any other symptoms eg a cold.

It's likely that you're going to be having a fairly brief and light anaesthetic (you'll be asleep, but unlikely to be anaesthetised as much as for surgery) then I'd have thought it is probable that they will still be happy to do you.

Certainly go in and then see what they say.

Thanks reallybadidea I thought that the dose would be quite low and quick. I will go in and see what they say. Hopefully it can be done and I can stop worrying about having it done :-(

Hi I went but was sent home as my chest was too bad. Am on antibiotics now and procedure is rescheduled for 2 weeks.

Fingers crossed the antibiotics work :-)
