5month old with a sickness bug - desparate, help please.

Does anyone know what I shoudl do. My 23month old dd had a sickness bug which is going around here at the mo. and she has passed it onto my 5month old ds. It has been easy (well, with a bit of gentle persuasion!) keeping her away from dairy but what do I do to a 5month old. He is on formula and I have started weaning. My dd has had it for 5 days so that is quite a long time if he is going to have it for that length of time. Do I keep him away from his formula and what can I give him?

I have no idea as I bf and was told not to stop doing that whatever happened....Does he take water??? plenty of fluids (ie water) would be my initial reaction....not sure about the formula milk!

Have you had a look on NHS direct? Or you could always give them a call for some advice if your GP isn't open on a Saturday. DD is breastfed too, and like Ludaloo was told to keep that up during sickness, but really not sure about advice re: formula. Hope both your LO's are better soon!

Thank you all so much. Just spoken to our local dr. attached to the hospital and he said it is prob. because this cold going around is so chesty that it sits on the little one's lungs and when it gets that bad when dairy "hits" it, it makes them sick.

Hi I have a 2 year old that had loads of bugs when he was a baby! I took him to the doctors loads of times and the main advice was just make sure he was taking fluids so he didn't get dehydrated. Formula can sometimes make them worse! I was told just to give cool boiled water or to try dioralyte sachets from the chemist (check how much you can give to a 5 month old). If it lasts over the weekend I would contact the Doctor on Monday morning. Wouldn't worry too much about the formula as long as he is drinking plenty.
