Anaemia - taking iron and periods got heavier?

I've been on iron tablets for the past 6 weeks. They seem to have worked. First reading was 84 and second, 140. So far so good.

I've had two periods in this time - the first was heavier than normal and the second, just this weekend was so heavy that I felt ill. I now feel more shaky and anaemic than 6 weeks ago.

Has anyone else experienced this - doctor thinks it ia a coincidence.

Fibroids can cause heavy bleeding to arise. Has the actual cause of the heavy bleeding been determined?. I would be asking the GP now for a referral to a gynaecologist. Its all very well treating you with iron tablets but it only seems to be treating the symptoms rather than the cause.

Am awaiting an appointment with the gynaecologist.
