hi all.
went to london today and endured 3 hours of really awful tests, all designed to induce horrible symptoms of spinning dsizziness, howebver i stuck it out and as a result have a diagnosis.
i have significant left inner ear damage, the balance organ has only about 10 per cent function in my inner ear, possibly caused by the labyrinthitids i had 2 years ago, the term used was a failure to fully compensate.
ive been referred to the physio dept for vestibular rehab therapy which should help me regain some of the balance back.
its taken 2 years and an incorrect diagnosis of pnd, but i finally got my answer.

I thought this was yuor thread!!

I am so glad you've finally got a diagnosis and hope you will feel better very soon.

Will you do anything re the incorrect diagnosis?

SPACEdoutzombieCADET · 27/10/2006 11:54

theres no cure as the damage to the balance organ is irreversible, however vestibular rehab therapy can help my brain to over come some of the damge, but i will never be 100 per cent better.
im mulling over making a complaint against my old surgery over the way i was treated.

spacey, so glad you finally got a diagnosis & that you can now be given the appropriate treatment.
I think it would certainly be worth a letter to your surgery.

SPACEdoutzombieCADET · 28/10/2006 10:03

i have decided to make a complaint against my old surgery, now need to think about how i word the letter.

Oh da iawn Spacey.
God,sounds like a bloody nightmare!

foxinsocks · 28/10/2006 10:12

spacey, so pleased you have a diagnosis. I only hope the vestibular rehab will help you on the way to recovery. I had some inner ear damage after a particularly nasty ear infection as a child (treated too late - my parents weren't great believers in taking us to doctors) and unfortunately, I still suffer from travel sickness quite badly but other than that, I don't notice it at all.

Well done for getting to see the specialist. Is she going to be the one that treats you now?
