PUPPS or OC or neither??

I posted a little while ago about itchiness in third trimester of pregnancy...learnt a lot as a result, but thought it was getting better: sorry to have to ask again, but....
Now nearly 34 weeks, and am reasonably ok during the day but late afternoon/early evening I start getting really itchy: bump, boobs, elbows, tops of thighs, face a little, and now back. Bum too, but then I have serious piles so suspect they play major part there . Sometimes soles of feet when I'm hot, in bed. It eases off around 3am - by which time I'm exhausted
Have tried all sorts of creams, Calendula, Canesten (in case it was thrushy - in relevent places), Piriton (does help, but don't want to keep taking it), cold showers (helps while under them). Eating sugary stuff does make it worse - esp chocolate, sadly.
I don't have a rash, or welts when I scratch - I have a history of urticaria, so know what that looks like. Is PUPPS possible without any welts? Is OC possible without itchy hands, and only in evenings/night?
Anyone have any thoughts, or best of all, tips? I am seeing OB next Tuesday, don't know whether to contact her before then or if I'm overreacting to a slightly-worse-than-normal pg itch. Its driving me nuts though, and is really tiring/depressing.

Don't know what pupps or oc is i'm afraid!

My only suggestion is are you swollen?

I am currently 36 wks and swelling madly and in the areas of swelling i also itch madly! oh what fun pregnancy is .

Nope, no swelling, but sounds horrid! OC and PUPPS are two pregnancy itchy conditions that other MNers told me about and to watch out for. I'm watching

Thanks for posting, and good luck!

With my OC, I didn't really have generalised itching, just on my hands and feet. However, I think it is supposed to get worse through the day, as bile salts build up.
I was very bad at night, and had extremely hot itchy feet, which I kept hanging out of the bed clothes to cool down.
Did you not get any tests done last time then?

I posted this on our ante-natal thread for you

elliboo, I googled itching, pregnancy and saw this site .

EliBoo · 26/10/2006 13:59

Jabber, thanks - you're a star. Overrun, no, she did'nt run tests on me last time - I did take the advice on board, but the OB did'nt think my itching was bad enough at my lats appointment. And during the day, its easy to minimize it....but now I am a lot clearer: its definitely got worse. So I'll push for tests at my next visit, which is in a few days....ca'nt quite bring myself to bleep her over it at this point

Hey there, I wondered if you were on today. tbh, I wouldn't worry a bit about giving them a call ahead of time just to make sure you can get your labs done at your visit if nothing else.

EliBoo · 26/10/2006 15:13

Good thinking, Jabber...will email her today. She'll probably do them on the spot.

Am on for five seconds, but no time to catch up properly with antenatal thread yet - saving that pleasure for later today
