Nexplanon - constant spotting and some clots (tmi)

Hi

I had the implant inserted 4 months ago. Since then have had nearly constant bleeding although not a proper period. It's more like spotting and needs only a panty liner. It is a mixture of fresh and brown blood. Recently I've noticed some significant but wispy clotting when I go to the toilet.

I understand the side effects and the reluctance to remove it early due to expense. However, 9 years ago a smear test picked up, and I was treated for mild cell changes and the symptoms were similar to this. My last smear was 2 years ago and was fine.

I guess I would like to know if anyone else has experienced this spotting/clotting and do I have a reason to be concerned given my history?

thanks

I bled every day on this damn thing. Had it removed after 6 months and I'd advise that you do too

Thank you. Went to see GP yesterday. He'sgoing to have a look at my cervix next week but it the meantime has given me some tablets to stop the bleeding. He's also going to take a swab as I'm really itchy and thrush treatment isn't touching it. He reckons some women just can't tolerate the implant and I may be given the mini pill to take along side. This makes no sense to me if the issue is cost. Just take the damn thing out and I'll go on the pill!Confused

I'm on implant number three now and bled like you're describing for five weeks, then took the mini pill everyday for three months and not seen a period since. Although I've never had periods on the implant. The first two were implanon and this is nexplanon and the only time I experienced this. And no problems at all since.
