does anyone know what one of these feels like. i have been getting pain in the top of my stomach, which the doctor has said is indegestion and prescribed tablets to reduce the amount of acid in my stomach. the tablets dont seem to have any effect and the pain takes my breath away it is so bad. its not like acid indegestion. it makes no difference if i lie down or sit up, and i try to make myself sick in the hope that i will feel better. it actually hurts to hold my toddler as it feels like im pressing against the pain.
does anyone know what this is?

At the junction between your oesophagus and your stomach there should be a tight ring of muscle stopping stomach contents getting up into the oesophagus. Sometimes its a bit weak, and you can get a bit of stomach that pokes through - a hiatus hernia. Often doesn't give any symptoms and is totally harmless, but you can get indigestion with it - reflux, where the stomach acid washes out into your gullet.
Making yourself sick is a really really bad idea as you will only make things worse.
If the tablets your GP has given you haven't worked then go back and see them again, there will be something else you can try. Unless you go back they will not know that you aren't any better.
Hope it gets better soon. (and make sure to cut out caffeine/alcohol/spicy food/NSAID painkillers like nurofen)
