Periods and bleeding after having a baby, is this normal?

Hiya
I had a baby 10 weeks ago. I stopped bleeding heavily about 7 days after birth then it got very light until I didn't have any. I then stopped bleeding for a while and after that I would get random spotting and thick sticky mucus plug like red discharge (and a lot of it!) I then had what I thought to be a "period" on the 1st of Febuary, It got heavy and had stomach cramps too and a lot of clotting (small and average sized)

I then stopped bleeding around 8 days later and then went back to the normal routine of getting random sticky long brown discharge (a bit like the mucus plug) it doesn't smell at all. I then started bleeding again today so I assume this is my next period? my periods were usually 27 days apart. Its heavy at the moment and I am also having cramps.

Is this normal after having a baby? I had a UTI after I had him but was found a week after I gave birth and treated. I am such a hypochondriac and doctors wont see me till thurs :(

The body takes a while to adjust hormone levels after birth, also are you breastfeeding as this alters hormone levels. As long as you feel well, discharge doesn't smell and remains clear/stained not cloudy or lumpy (sorry if tmi!).
If you are bf or have done and since stopped it knocks on normal cycles for a while also if you are now quite active the body will react differently to help recover from the birth and prepare for the next (I know that's not on your mind but nature always has other ideas!)
