Stubbed my toe & split my nail *picture included*

I stubbed my toe earlier today and split the nail from one side to the other. It bled and it feels like there is a lot of pressure under the nail. I have rinsed it with liberal doses of TCP and put on some Savlon and a plaster when I went out.

I am too chickenshit to see if the nail comes up and can be cut away. So what do I do? Do I keep it bandaged or exposed to the air? Should I attempt to cut away the nail? What about showering? Shall I leave the hurt foot out of the shower?

I don't have any pain just pressure and the visible bleeding has stopped.

I am currently treating my DD1s split toenail with a piece of Tea bag and clear nail varnish having read this on the internet. Supposed to protect the split as it grows out.

Thanks for that. I actually stubbed it again in the middle of the night and needed to cut off the broken part of the nail. There is only a little bit left in the corner.

Cover it and let it grow!
I did the exact same injury 3 months ago at taekwondo and it really hurt!
I put a couple of plasters over to protect it and most of it came away a few days later. The rest slowly grew and got less sore as the underside healed.
