Lump under my armpit???

Last night I noticed a small lump under one of my armpits. Didn't really think much of it but its still there today.
About the size of a raisin and is ssore and tender to the touch.
So before I start worrying for no reason, any ideas what it could be?

Could be an ingrowing hair.

NastyNemo666 · 23/10/2006 21:39

could it be a pulled hair??? I get lumps sometimes a day or so after shaving and they can be very painful. Tend to go after a couple of days.

last shaved on sat evening. How long do they take to come up?

They say that anything to worry about is usually painless.

Hello

Could be your glands trying to fight an infection.

I have had this a few times and once was so painful I could hardly raise my arm. there was a painful red lump and that was was the dic said.

it went away.

get it checked to put your mind at rest

sorry my doc... actually he can be a bit of a dic at times

JunkInMyTrunk · 23/10/2006 22:00

Its not painful as such just tender so I think I'll leave it a couple of days and then go gp's if it hasn't gone down.
thanks everyone

I get these a lot - evey month or so.... and always under the right armpit, never the left...

First time I got one I panicked and rushed to the doc. (I have a history of breastlumps so immediately feared the worst...) He said it was a blocked lymph node, very common in women who shave their armpits.

They are not painful, just tender to touch.. Mine are always the size of a pea, sometimes a little larger, and are definately under the skin (as opposed to a spot which is in the skin iyswim)

They always go away within a week.

I have had ab's in the past, but it has not made them go away any quicker.

I used to really worry, but now I know it is just one of those odd things my body does...

it could be a boil. i get boils under my right armpit but never my left. they can be painful but mine are only tender. sometimes they come to a head and sometimes they just dissapear!
