I unexpectedly had to go out on Saturday resulting in my 5 week old breast fed baby having 2 formula feeds whilst I was gone. However, I have not had a dirty nappy off her since 9pm on Saturday evening after having 5 or more a day since birth. She has been trying to go all day but we've had nothing but wind off her. And advice on how to ease this for her? TIA

Im also breast feeding and something i ate has stopped my 8 week old pooing after every feed to not at all since fri. I am trying boiled water, i think its helping as alot more wind coming out.

I used to give my other children boiled water with a tiny bit of brown sugar or fresh oj in it and it always worked at treat. That was from 3 months though.

Cooled to warm, boiled water, good luck

Another vote for cooled boiled water!

Thanks mrsmaddyd. Used to use brown sugar and water with ds but he was a lot older than dd is and I'm a bit unsure as to weather she should have it. Will give the boiled water a try though.

Also try massaging her tummy gently in a clockwise direction. The fact that she's passing wind means that there is bowel movement and that's a good sign.

i wasnt sure too thats why ive just gone with water, its funny how you forget even after having others

I also used boiled water with a sprinkle of brown sugar, it worked very well. My midwife said it wouldnt be a problem as long as it (obviously) wasn't given constantly!!
