Anyone else had stupidly painful periods after childbirth?

I gave birth to my daughter a year and a half ago and ever since my periods have been so painful that it's actually reduced me to tears. Before my periods we're a breeze, I'd only get like a dull period ache, I would be medium heaviness on the first day then 4 light days. Now I have 1-2 days of really heavy period (whole pack of tampons in a day and doubling up with pads) then 2-3 light days. And the first day or two I would be in so much pain that I could hardly be able to move. I don't know if this is to do with hormones of child birth or if it's something I need to see someone about? Anyone else experienced this? Thanks in advance!

I don't know if it's normal but mine have been heavier and more painful since giving birth too. Almost bedridden for the first day with the pain but they don't last as long now as they used too. I figure it's normal for them to be a little different afterwards but if it's really bad I would go see your doctor just to get it checked out. They might be able to give you some help, have you considered going on the pill or anything? Sometimes that can help make periods less painful. Hope you find something that alleviates it a bit for you.

Mine have just returned after 2 years due to bf - they're awful. I've got muscle weakness and wastage with chronic pain but it's certainly worse when I've had a period. Some of my issues are either due to or have caused low ferritin (iron) and I'm now on tablets so I'm wondering if there's any connection/ going to be improvement. Might be worth speaking to gp?

I never had pain ever, haven't really had it in my tummy with post baby ones but whole body has ached terribly.

I'm also hypothyroid and had some dosing issues so might be another thing to check - though I believe others have said how awful they are.

Mine were always hideous before my son, but were truly horrendous afterwards, up until recently (ds is 5). They are much shorter (now only 5 days compared to 7/8 days before).

Mine were lighter after ds, but the same as you after dd. Doctor was not interested. I think my second c section (which went badly) is to blame as I had alot of scar issue after the first one apparently.

I would see the GP with a view to getting a referral to a gynaecologist for further evaluation. Such changes are not normal post childbirth and you should not have to put up with it.

I had an ecs, I wonder if that's also to blame?
