What the heck is wrong with me? Right rib pain not gallbladder

trickynicky · 13/02/2015 12:24

For the past 2 weeks I have had intermittent pain under my rib on the right side - also a feeling of fullness and/or like something is pushing me from the inside. I Had a gallbladder removal abou 14 months ago. I have had bad reflux for years and dodgy bowels on and off with intermittent diarrhoea is not unusual for me. I am struggling through the day though at he moment as it is uncomforatable and when I eat, I bloat up and stomach does all sorts of weird noises. I am feeling slightly nauseous and yet I will go hours without any pain or issues and then randomly it starts again. Is this likely to be a bug or something more sinister? No bleeding/weight loss or anything like that. Just feel uurrgghh...

I have this too. There's some info on my thread.

Ask for referral back to your g/e.

NanTheWiser · 13/02/2015 16:27

Could be a hiatus hernia, symptoms sound typical. (I suffer too, and suspect a HH...)

Babyh200 · 13/02/2015 18:54

I have all these symptoms too trickynicky. I haven't had my gallbladder removed and have been for an ultrasound scan today to check for gallstones. I told the sonographer I was worried sick that it was something sinister but he wouldn't tell me anything which has made me worry even worse. He seemed to spend ages scanning my upper right quadrant and said the GP would contact me with the results. I now have myself dead and buried, my youngest daughter is only 15 months :(

Chockbic, I have done a search and can't find your thread can you post the link for me please.

I hope you both get to the bottom of things x

Has anyone tried peppermint for their issues?

chockbic · 13/02/2015 19:42

Babyh200, the scan does take a while.

I wasn't told anything earlier. The results came back clear.

Guitargirl · 13/02/2015 19:43

It could be fatty liver?

chockbic · 13/02/2015 19:51

How is fatty liver diagnosed?

Guitargirl · 13/02/2015 19:55

Elevated liver enzymes which show up in a blood test and then an ultrasound.

chockbic · 13/02/2015 19:56

OK thanks.

Blood tests showed two elevated levels in mine.

Guitargirl · 13/02/2015 19:58

Do you carry excess fat around your abdomen? (Apple shape?)

chockbic · 13/02/2015 20:01

I have bloating and some fat in that area.

Am losing weight though due to not eating...

Guitargirl · 13/02/2015 20:09

There is a liver detox tea you could try - I think it's Dr Stuart's.

Babyh200 · 13/02/2015 22:26

Thanks for posting back Chockbic, did you ask the sonographer if he saw anything at the time of the scan? I think because he refused to comment it made me worse. I have had blood tests which included liver enzimes but the blood tests were all normal.

Guitargirl, thanks for replying do you think I could have fatty liver? He seemed to spend ages scanning me on my right side but 30 seconds on my left.

Choc, I am overweight I'm a size 16 my weight during 2 pregnancies. Like you I'm terrified to eat anything.....

Off to post on your other thread, don't want to gatecrash yours Tricky x

Babyh200 · 13/02/2015 22:27

yousuf1 · 14/02/2015 00:23

Look up sphincter of oddi dysfunction. I suffer from thisHmm have a look and see if your symptoms match.

chockbic · 14/02/2015 13:30

Babyh200, no she didn't say anything at the time.

You might want to try Complan instead of food for a while.
