Numbness after dental surgery yesterday

I've asked this in Chat too, but think it might get buried in the high volume of traffic. I had dental implant surgery yesterday, and realised that my top lip was still numb and continues to be numb today.

I've googled and scared myself - does anyone have any experience of this and know whether it is likely to be permanent?! Any stories welcome - not sure what to do. My dentist just says to wait a few days and it should improve, but Google suggests otherwise (though we all know we should never google). Anyone been here and have any wisdom?

When you smile/move your lips, does your lip move properly or is it still 'droopy' or lopsided?

It does move, much more so than with anaesthetic, but I don't think it's totally normal. DH and various friends say it's not noticeable though.

It can 'feel like' it looks different or is swollen even if it's not if your nerves are unhappy (have experience of this also after dental work, not a lip though).

Call the dental surgeon though. I'm not a doctor!
