Can anyone tell me why my neck is aching?

Ugh it is so sore. Started couple of days ago as shoulder pain, now my whole neck is aching - radiating down the top of my back too. Making me feel really tired and grotty. I haven't got any cold symptoms but am having pain in my ears from (although have ongoing problem with that). Any suggestions on what it might be or what might help relieve it? I definitely haven't strained it lifting or anything like that.

Could you have slept on it funny? I've woken up with a sore neck today and have put it down to how I slept.

Usually that's the first thing I'd think too Magpie but it didn't hurt when I woke up a few mornings ago, I just started getting shoulder pain during the day, then neck ache the following day, and feeling a bit grotty too. It doesn't really seem muscular, more fluey achey if you know what I mean but I don't have any sort of cough or cold. Thanks for replying though, hopefully that's all it will turn out to be.

Maybe some viral then? Do you have a temperature? Maybe take some paracetamol and see if that helps. Hope you feel better soon!
