My one year old son suffered a febrile convulsion this week due to high temp - had to be rushed to hospital in ambulance - has anyone else faced this and how did you cope afterwards am now really worried he'll have another one.

I think it is quite common. I would try not to worry too much about it as there is every chance it may no happen again. Consider cooling techniques for next time your son has a temperature - paracetamol and ibuprofen, cool compress's, fans cool baths etc as if the temp stays down he is less likely to suffer this again.

Both my sons had one - and only one - when they were about two. We were told that after one the brain normally resets itself and you don't get it again. Also there can be some genetic element to it and it can run in families. DS1 is now 6 and we haven't had another one.

Try not to worry.

(I was lucky as both of them happened when my wonderfully calm DP was in charge... I would have been very panicky.)
