I had a tooth out monday and have 2 stitches I am terrified of the dentist and had it done at the local hospital and they were brilliant. They told me to take either paracetomol or nothing as the pain would be like a mild/normal headache.I was ok yeaterday it hurt a bit but not excessive but I still needed paracetomol and codeine to take the pain away and today it is even worse!Should I expect a lot of pain or is this unusual and I should contact them?I am taking codeine four hourly atm

Contact your dentist as you may have developed an infection or a dry socket (and thereforerequire antibiotics).

can you not get in at your normal dentist on an emergancy appointment just for them to check for you?

i had a dry socket when they took a back tooth out and it was excrutiating pain.i also had impacted wisdom teeth taken out and alot of stitches under anaesthetic so i know what its like.

i was on co codamol 30/500 which are paracetamol and codeine.they weer prescribed and worked really well but i couldnt drive with them.they didnt make me addicted at all and i was on them for a few weeks so i wouldnt worry.

what dosage are you on? if they arent that strong consult your doctor who can prescribe higher dosage.normal dentist cant prescribe them.mine tried.

seriously get it checked though as it shouldnt be that bad pain i wouldnt have thought.not worse

you can take ibuprofen with them too if you space it out in between the others it works well.

good luck tomorrow

I also had a tooth out Mon !
Was in hosp Tue night with a duodenal ulcer-prob. caused by the huge amounts of brufen i`d been taking the week previous for toothache.
Its now Thurs and i managed to get an appt. to see dentist later today as the pain is worse than ever.
What is making it worse is that my stomach ulcer is really bad too so even if i take painkillers my stomach pains are even worse !
Dentist says it sounds like i need some antibiotics as maybe an absess ?
Anyway-really feel for you-literally !
Lets hope we both have it sorted soon-i find sipping warm drinks helpful.
