Sweating and shakes (20 month old)

My ds woke up crying this morning and when I went into see him he was sweating and his hands were shaking. Gave him Calpol straight away and got him to calm down.
The calpol had stopped him sweating but he is still very hot (wont let me take his temp). Has had a runny nose for a couple of weeks now but no other symptoms.
Any ideas? Just another virus?

My dd used to get very shaky with a high temperature. It's important to try and get his temp down - if not take him to the doctors.

My dd (13 m) had this last night - her temp was 40 at once point and then she woke up shaking. I took her to the out of hours doc (at 3am - yawn) and he said it was a viral infection. Important to keep the temp down with Calpol/Nurofen, warm bath to reduce temp, lots of fluids if he/she will take it. DD seems her usual self this morning, if a little pale looking.
