Root canal. Pain worse after! Advice

Hi I had a root canal on Friday morning. It didn't hurt I could've gone to sleep very relaxed. No pain at all until now if I touch the tooth slightly it's agony. It's making the whole side of my face hurt and giving me an awful headache. I now can't eat because every time I close my mouth it's horrendous pain.

Is this normal until my crown is fitted or is something wrong? The pain is worse than it ever was before. Thank you.

Phone the dentist

This is the unfortunate downside of root canals. They can either take or not. Several years ago I had the same as you, the hole was then drilled larger and larger and larger and finally I lost the tooth. :/
I would phone your dentist asap!

Thank you. I am waiting for dentist to open I was always going to call them. I just wondered of it was normal or not as good old Google suggested it's normal to have this type of pain. But because it was fine until last night I thought not. Just wanted to see if anyone else experienced it and any advice. Thank you

Sounds like the root canal isn't as clean as it should be. Or the filling is high.

The fact that you say every time you close, it is painful suggests a high filling, in which case it can be filed down.

I have had two root canals, first one was fine. Second one as you descibed, ok at the time but terrible pain after. Go and see the dentist asap, turned out to be infection but was fine after hefty dose of antibiotics. Did take a few days though and before then it was really rather nasty so get seen as soon as poss. Hope you feel better soon.

Thank you. It's really bad got an appointment this afternoon. I did tell her just to take it out. But she kept trying to make me go private saying it fails more on nhs but it's £400+. I wish she'd just taken it out. Hopefully can sort it this afternoon. Thank you. X
