High blood pressure 20 year old?

My sister, 20, has high blood pressure. She was up all night last night with a migraine, she went to the drs today and they have said her bp is even higher and she has to go back on Friday to get it checked and they have given her painkillers for the migraine. Does anyone have any experience of this? Advice?

I am probably over reacting but I am very worried, our grandfather passed away in Jan this year following his 5th stroke, which were brought on by high blood pressure amongst other things.

She will go back to check it was not a one off. If not then I would expect them to start her on some anti hypertensives and maybe try to investigate why her bp is high at such a young age. bp can usually be well controlled with a/mixture of drug(s) so try not to worry. there are home bp monitors you can pick up quite cheaply to make sure bp is well controlled and not just a case of fearofdoctoritus!
