72 babies died within 20 days of receiving GSK Infanrix hexa Vaccine

72 babies died within 20 days of receiving GSK Infanrix hexa Vaccine.
They reported that the deaths of these children were due to Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) and Sudden Unexpected Death Syndrome (SUDS) unrelated vaccination. WHAT??? What cant

Infanrix hexa combines vaccines against 6 diseases [namely Diptheria, Tetanus and Acelluar Pertusis (whooping cough), Hepatitis B, inactivated Poliomyelitis and Haemophilus influenza type B] in a single vaccine.

Why arent we informed of problems

Sophie you seem to have disappeared from this thread so I don't know if this will get through. Any parenting choice is a balance of risks. Vaccination is not risk free, for example your child may be allergic and react to an ingredient of the vaccine. As a parent you must research (vaccine benefits and side effects all available through the NHS choices website - is there something like that available for you?) and decide what risk you are willing to take.

For me the risk of suffering and long term damage from one of the childhood diseases where vaccination is available was greater than the risk of giving a tried-and-tested vaccine that is given to 1000's of children without effect.

Every time my DS and I cross the road we risk being killed in an accident (more likely to happen than the situation in your articles) however I assess the risk and continue crossing the road, life is not 100% risk free or safe, your job as a parent is to assess and minimise risk where possible.

AnnieLobeseder · 18/01/2015 10:55

The point I always like to make in these discussions is this. I am an immunologist. My groups works in vaccine development (veterinary rather than human). I understand vaccines. My colleagues understand vaccines. Medical doctors understand vaccines. We also understand the risks.

Without fail, every single one of us vaccinates our children. Does that not tell you all you need to know?

bruffin · 18/01/2015 11:28

For years on those same dodgy websites there was information about SIDS and vaccination. This was based on research by a "Dr" Viera Schreibner who claimed that SIDs disappeared once they stopped vaccinating under twos with dtp etc. What she had done was looked at the VAERS (or equivalent) reports before and after the stopping of the jab and said look there was say 100 sids cases and afterwards there none Confused How can there be a vaers report if the children are not being vaccinated. Someone else did their research and found there were still as many cases of SIDS but they could not be attributed to vaccines anymore, and whats more children started dying of whooping cough again. If you look at the WHO graphs on SIDS the Japan one follows exactly the same pattern at the US.
The "Dr" is because she is not a medical doctor, but a micropaleontologist. Her nonsense is still spread around the internet even though it was debunked years ago.

HazleNutt · 18/01/2015 11:34

Annie, I have heard anti-vax people claiming that you either lie, or alternatively you have special, pure and non-damaging vaccines that you don't share with the rest of us.

AnnieLobeseder · 18/01/2015 11:42

Oh, is that what we're doing. Awesome to know.

Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha! Grin

bruffin · 18/01/2015 11:57

Dr Sears ,in his vaccine book, says you shouldnt tell your friends and neighbours that you are not vaccinating because you may talk them into not vaccinating and your child will not benefit from herd protection Shock

AnnieLobeseder · 18/01/2015 12:25

What a lovely altruistic man! See, that's what pisses me off most about the anti-vaxers. They're supposedly so fucking clever, knowing all this secret stuff about how evil vaccines are. But they are also in the full knowledge that the reason their own child hasn't died of smallpox or been crippled by polio or been rendered infertile by mumps is because they are relying on the herd immunity conferred by we supposedly stupid, ignorant and unenlightened people who do vaccinate!!

Tinfoil-hat wearing selfish fuckers.

BoreOfWhabylon · 18/01/2015 12:28

No Annie - they are relying on homeopathy and reiki (and herd immunity)

butterfliesinmytummy · 18/01/2015 12:29

When you discuss vaccinations and risks with your pediatrician or gp, -ask them how many of their medically trained colleagues have decided not to vaccinate their own children. Should give you an idea of where this is heading....

GotToBeInItToWinIt · 18/01/2015 12:39

I'm baffled too Shadow.

lljkk · 18/01/2015 13:04

The OP is talking about the 5-in-one jab, right?

bruffin · 18/01/2015 13:15

Forgot to say the Schreibner "research" comes out of Japan.

andersonsophie89 · 18/01/2015 14:05

Medoc- In the UK you can pay for extra vaccines privately. You will also need to pay for travel vaccinations.

Sophie are you interested in good science based info or just the conspiracy theory antivax stuff.
I found a oxford vaccine group which has been independently looking at research

andersonsophie89 · 18/01/2015 14:35

Coyoacan- Thank you for your comment regarding Medoc. I wanted to say those things, but I was too scared of upsetting her.

This thread isnt a question of vaccinate or not-vaccinate / if vaccines cause autism or not. Or if vaccines causes SIDS or not. I dont want this thread to be a 88 page debate, with a few name calling thrown in.

It is simply as there is clearly a risk, why arent we being told? Why are we been made to believe that vaccines are safe, when there are serious risks. Why doesn't my doctor know of these risks and pass them to us? Just like the amniocentesis test, no matter how small it is, the midwife tells you about the risk of miscarriage and any other risks. Why arent we being given the fuller picture and a copy of the vaccine insert, so that we can make an informed choice.

In addition, I want to ask why is the media so quick to scaremonger parents all day long when a child comes down with measles, but when there is a story of a baby being killed by vaccine, we dont hear a peep? All I am asking is why? And the answers to why, is what this thread is really about. Please can everyone else keep to the subject. Thank you.

"It is simply as there is clearly a risk why arent we being told?"

Clearly a risk of what?

Comment on the GSK paper, from a third party: "According to this analysis, the number of sudden death cases reported after vaccination with Infantrix hexa is below the number of cases expected in children in the first year of life. It is equal or below the number of cases expected in children in the 2nd year of life."

And of course there is plenty of information (including on NHS website) about side effects of the vaccines in their schedule. What do you believe they have omitted?

Vaccine inserts are all available online too, and I've always been given them to take away with me post-inoculation.

bruffin · 18/01/2015 14:51

We are being told the real risks. But yhey are not what you will find on the conspiracy theory ridden websites you have linked to.
Ignore those and do some proper research.
My ds had fc and my gp quite happily discussed the risk of fc from his boosterand the risk of the disease and i was even offered to have it done in hospital.

andersonsophie89 · 18/01/2015 14:53

HazleNutt - You are looking at it from the point of view that everyone wants to vaccinate and we need to force people to not vaccinate their child for a study. If you did that then yes that would be unethical. There are a lot of groups of people who does not vaccinate already. Wouldnt it make sense to compare those who have not vaccinated, compared to those who has vaccinated. This is a very simply analysis that can be done but it has not.

For me withholding information, so that a parent cannot make an informed choice is unethical. That is the question I am asking.

OP posts:
forwarding · 18/01/2015 14:56

Yes op, that would be unethical. But as you have been told, that is not what has happened.

OddBoots · 18/01/2015 15:03

It has been done, just a quick search of google scholar ( scholar.google.co.uk/ ) shows that link "Conclusions? DTPP±Hib immunization is not a risk factor for early SUD. In this population, we found the same risk factors as described for SIDS."

I'm sure there are other studies too, if you're interested then I'm sure you can look them up.

AuntieStella · 18/01/2015 15:03

"Wouldnt it make sense to compare those who have not vaccinated, compared to those who has vaccinated. This is a very simply analysis that can be done but it has not."

It has been done, and I have linked two (of the many) peer-reviewed papers with the findings earlier in this thread.

bruffin · 18/01/2015 15:08

Why do you think it hasnt been done? someone linked to a study above!

andersonsophie89 · 18/01/2015 15:11

bruffin -but how can be have real risk given to us, if the medical profesionals arent documenting the vaccine correctly, how can one trust the data?

You are obviously very lucky to have your doctor say wait a minute, are you sure you want to vaccinate. There are some stastics of children dead or being injuried within certain time after recieving the vaccine. We arent sure of the long terms effects of the vaccines, because it isnt really being monitored and we dont contribute anything after this period of time, as a result of the vaccine. For me, if I heard the words death from vaccine, no matter how small. I would have definately went home to rethink about and do my own research.

I have spoken to many others from the carehome my nephew is at, almost all of us wasnt told of the dangers/ risks beforehand.

When I had my little one, I was in two minds about vaccines. Because I knew what I seen and what other parents were saying at my nephews carehome, but I still didnt want to believe that vaccine can cause harm. I went to my doctor and asked him how much aluminium was inside the vaccine and how that effects the development of a newborns developing brain. He couldnt answer me. He didnt even know there was aluminium inside the vaccine. For me that is proof that the GP arent taught about vaccine harm or are they made to read more broadly in order to give unbias advice. Therefore, I have to resort to the internet to find it.
