Does anyone have any idea what this is?

i have an ache / pain in my left shoulder that runs down my back on my shoulder blade and under my armpit. My chest is tender (cant feel any lumps on my breast) but when i hold something against me (my little girl for instance) my breast is very tender, and my bone on my chest just above my breast in tender too.

can anyone please help?

Have you been doing gardening or something like that? It sounds like overworked muscles on that side.

jackieglyn · 17/10/2006 09:53

No i have not been doing anything at all. so i am abit confused and worried to what it can be.

Do you carry your child only on the left side?

Do you have pain if you lie in the relaxation position? (on back, back relaxed, arms at side, knees up?)

Is the pain sharp? Throbbing? When did it start?

Do you have full range of movement of your left arm? Does it move as far as your right?

(I'd go to a physio, if the pain hasn't just been today.)

the pain is an ache in my shoulder and the pain on my breast / chest is mostly there when i hold something against me (tender). i have the odd shooting pain through my breast too.

i have no restricted movement at all and i carry my child on both sides.

im worried it may be something serious. The bone above my breast and the surrounding area is very sore / tender too. i have had this for about 6 weeks now.

Any ideas?

Agree with NQC, GP first (I am always over cautious when it comes to health) then physio.

NotQuiteCockney · 17/10/2006 10:22

GP now, I think. Probably muscle/structure thing, but sounds a bit scary to me.

tubismybub · 17/10/2006 12:03

Could be inflamed ribs, i've had this on and off for months. best to check it out with your GP though.

jackieglyn · 17/10/2006 13:51

Hi tubismybub, have you got the same symptons as me? Are you taking anything for your ribs?

Hi, I've been to my g.p. with the same symptoms as yours and he told me it was frozen shoulder, due to strain, or maybe just sleeping in a strange position. I just took ibuprofen for the pain and inflamation and it settled down after about 8 weeks. Hope you feel better soon, but do go to your g.p..

tubismybub · 17/10/2006 14:08

My symptoms were a bit similar although most of my discomfort was just under my left breast and up the side to my armpit also at the back down my left shoulder blade. I just took ibuprofen and that help although it flares back up regularly.

Piffle · 17/10/2006 14:11

could be worth a visit to a physio/osteopath
I had similar - mostly shooting pains through shoulder blades and neck and chest.
Thought it was a trapped nerve for about 6 mths but it was as physion diagnosed a strain of my 1st two ribs ie: wt the front of your neck. i think I did mine carrying dd's infant car seat and shopping up stairs to our flat.
Once physion sorted it, it has never been back
I'd go via GP and maybe ask for physio referral as well as whatever drugs they are bound to chuck at you.

jackieglyn · 17/10/2006 14:38

thank you all - this has made me feel a little better (put my mind at ease a bit) had horrible thoughts in case it was cancer.

i suppose i had best go and see my gp anyway to see if he can give me anything for the pain - its just so scary incase they something you dont want to hear.
X

jackieglyn, just had a recent scare myself and visited breast clinic today. Was told by a consultant that pain is very rarely a symptom of 'c'.

try not to worry but do get checked, it makes you feel so much betterx
