Help! At 36 I've had head lice for a yr, tried nitty gritty, plstc combs, all lotions (inc. Hedrin), had them b4, so know it's lice. I avoid head contact with kids, sleep on clean towel every night. When I conditioner-comb (every other day for 1/2-hr) only occasionally see tiny blk specks and brn eggs. Are they mini-lice??! Doctor unhelpfully said it's my imagination! Am going mad and don't want to shave all my hair off!

Delacet - miracle stuff, buy it on line or in health food shop. It's one go and finished, no combing, no chemicals, fantastic.

juuule · 16/10/2006 20:37

Second the Delacet.

poppiesinaline · 16/10/2006 20:49

another vote for Delacet

Delacet eh? I'm off to google to find it, thanks! Fingers crossed.

had a friend with similar problems, just couldn´t get rid of them. She ended up having to treat ANYTHING that she rested her head on - couch, car head rests. She swears it was the car head rest, have you checked yours?

HTH

bigshades · 18/10/2006 20:19

No, I haven't checked my headrest - it had crossed my mind that it could be that. I'm sitting here with my Delcaet and shower cap on, so if it doesn't work, I'll get on the case. How do you treat a headrest?!!

Delacet hasn't worked! Does anyone have experience of dealing with really tiny head lice? My comb just doesn't seem to pick them up (have tried plastic, metal & nitty gritty). Thanks

how about straightening your hair with straighteners... try to get close to the scalp to kill the lice and the heat should also kill the eggs...

have to spoken to a hair dresser to get their perspective of the problem..

MumRum · 19/10/2006 22:38

have you tried straightening your hair with hair straighteners, try to get them close to your scalp to kill the live lice, then run them through your hair to kill the eggs... try this every other day for a week...

Where are you picking these head lice up from? do your children have head lice too?

what does your hairdresser think of your head lice? has she seen any? what does she suggest?

good luck..

sorry too posts.... internet playing up again...

bigshades · 22/10/2006 20:41

I have some straighteners so will try, thanks. I know it sounds disgusting, but I haven't told my hairdresser...in fact I haven't seen a proper size louse (would recognise cos had once before), just see tiny black flecks. I think dd had them in Sept 2005 (when I got mine) but I combed lots and she stopped itching. I comb dd & ds once a week just in case. I am wondering if there is anything else it might be? I can definitely feel things crawling on my head, get bitten on my neck and it's not psoriasis. Mini lice? It's so grim isn't, sorry!
