I have a question about receiving blood from people that have recovered from Ebola.

I saw in the news that the lady lady from Scotland was receiving blood from the recovered man from earlier in the year.

Is this like a direct blood transfusion are

Will they have had to be the same blood type or is it done differently?

Yes, they'd have to be the same blood type for it to be effective.

He's already fought off the infection and has antibodies.

I don't really know much about it either!

It might be blood plasma - which has various things removed.

I think it's blood plasma and the absolute type doesn't have to be conserved I think (eg AB can be given to A or B - at least I think that's right but I ain't a transplant person so I'd check with a grown up before trying it at home).
