Reckon it would deffo be hormonal if period is due on saturday. For me sore boobs are always a pre-bloodbath warning sign.

Could it also be badly fitting bra? Could be a sign that you need to go shopping....

nailpolish · 16/10/2006 13:03

yes i suppose you could be right, ive just never had it before

thanks for replying orlando

I only started getting it earlier this year. Was getting all worried and panicky and dh said it was period-related. Didn't believe him, so kept a note of when it happened for a couple of months, and dammit, he was right. With me, about 5 days before, but not every month.

Don't worry. It won't be what you're thinking.

nailpolish · 16/10/2006 13:10

oh well there you go then, if you say 5 days before then thats almost the same as me just now

it actually kept me awake last night!

Evening Primrose Oil is supposed to help, but you have to give it a few months to take effect.

Is it on both sides?

nailpolish · 16/10/2006 13:14

i take evening primrose and vitamin b6 already

its the right breast, on the outside near my armpit

Could be a gland up. Maybe you're fighting off some kind of virus. How are you feeling otherwise?

(Orlando now spookily entering armchair doctor mode... Feel I should point out at this moment that aside from a biology O'level (1986) I have no medical qualifications whatsoever.)

nailpolish · 16/10/2006 13:18

i feel fine

it feels like mastitis (which it cant be)

i got that a lot when i was bf'ing

Have suffered for many years with breast pain and other breast conditions.

If its associated with your period and is normally the same every month, it's probably hormonal and very common.

If its not a monthly thing, it's probably nothing to do with the c word either (sorry, still find it hard to say the word after having recent scare). Could be a strain or where you've knocked yourself or something unconnected with your breast in your case because of the location.

Why not visit the doc if its preying on your mind.

Really doesn't sound like anything to worry about though.

Orlando · 16/10/2006 13:22

Hmmm. Don't know then.

BUT. It won't be anything serious. It could be slight infection (think you can still get infection in ducts even though not bf?) Could be swollen gland if you're fighting something off. Could be period. Reckon you should take some Nurofen and see how it goes. If not better by next monday go to dr. If worse/new symptoms develop go sooner.

Apologies if I sound remotely like I think I'm some sort of expert! Hope you feel better soon. x

nailpolish · 16/10/2006 13:26

yes i think thats what ill do
thanks orlando

does the pain you have go away when your period then appears?

OP posts:
Orlando · 16/10/2006 13:28

Yes. Usually by day 2 or 3.

(but am so busy being vile to everything within a 3 mile radius I hardly notice it by then )

nailpolish · 16/10/2006 13:30

ok thanks ill keep that in mind

xxx
