Do you get free Eye tests?

Silly questions, but does anyone know if the NHS exemption certificate entitles you to free eye tests?

no idea but my optician gives them anyway, I think many do

No - at least I didn't at Boots Opticians.

When I queried it they said that eye test weren't covered by the exemption cert, which in their opinion was daft as eye-health was just aas important as dental health in pregnant women and eye exams could point out important issues such as raised BP.

If you have an NHS Tax Credit Exemption Certificate you are entitled to Free sight tests.

I have an NHS Tax Credit Exemption Certificate (as does DP) and we get them free They're only every 2 years now though (used to be yearly).

Also unless they have changed the law in the last 2 1/2 years, I got a free eye test when I was pregnant (with mat exemption cert)

I cant remember about the test but i did get a voucher for money off the glasses. (tax credit)

If you're employed and work on a computer for part of that job your employer should pay for eye tests and money towards frames and lenses if you need glasses.

Of course some employers need reminding of this.

Quite often ASDA's vision centre do eye tests for £5 when usually it's £15.

Did Boots get it wrong both times? Or is there more than one NHS exemption certificate that you can get when you're pregnant?
